Synopsis: - Esther Maris' life has really changed since she met Aquaman. She has found a good friend, and possibly a lover, in the aloof Atlantean man, and her journalism is reaching areas she'd never dreamed of before, even if her editor doesn't like what she's doing. In Sub Diego, Black Manta comes to the black community, offering a message of hope and saying that he plans to become a water-breather, but Aquaman does not want him around. He is visited by Koryak, who tells him that Mera is ill. Aquaman rushes to see her, and in so doing, he misses a rendezvous with Esther.
